The Stuff Yer Gonna' Need
-
SODIUM METABISULFITE. Mix it with water and use it to sterilize
EVERYTHING
-
A LARGE cook pot. Mine is Stainless steel and holds 15 pints
comfortably
-
A PRIMARY fermentor. This is a large, food grade plastic
bucket
-
A SECONDARY fermentor. I use a large glass carboy
-
A FERMENTATION LOCK. It goes on the top of the SECONDARY
-
An HYDROMETER. This measures the amount of sugar in the mead
-
A length of SIPHON TUBE.
-
A SLOTTED SPATULA. Preferably Stainless Steel
-
BOTTLES. Glass, screw top are best
All of these things (except maybe the cook pot) will be available
from your local brewer's supply store. The price should be reasonable.
When I started brewing 6 years ago I think I shelled out $80.00 for equipment
and ingredients.
